The Denver Nuggets star secured the NBA's MVP title in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Three-time National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Jokic endured a "devastating" injury to his knee as the Denver Nuggets lost 147-123 against the Heat.

The Serbian center was hurt late in the first half in an accidental contact with teammate Spencer Jones.

His teammate landed on the footwear of Jokic, and he instantly fell to the floor grabbing his leg.

The 30-year-old, that tops the league season in boards and assists, recorded 21 points and eight dimes in the matchup before sustaining the setback.

He is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday to assess the extent of the problem.

"Instantly, Jokic realized something was wrong," said Nuggets coach David Adelman.

"Injuries are part of the game. Anyone who suffers an injury, that's tough to see, especially somebody as talented as he is. More information will come on Tuesday."

"We'll move on as a team. Obviously, at this moment, I'm more concerned primarily about him personally and the letdown of going through something of that nature."
