The former Liverpool manager says coming back to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Anfield in 2024, has suggested that a future comeback remains an option. The 58-year-old, after a transformative nine-season tenure that included continental glory and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, has since taken on roles as head of global soccer within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

Liverpool won the league title last season, but many fans who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the notion that he might come back one day. Speaking candidly, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I stated I won't manage a different club in England. Which implies should it be the Reds...yeah. It's plausible.”

“At 58 years old, so I might decide down the line, it's uncertain. Do I have to make the decision today? In that case, I'd stay away. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I can just see what the future brings.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about which situations would have to unfold to draw him back to the touchline, he revealed he was not instantly drawn for a comeback. “I don’t even know exactly, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing during downpours for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip press conferences four times, three times a week or constant media duties weekly.

“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant alongside the squad talking freely, that’s nice. Success was frequent thus frequently positive atmosphere in the building. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role for the tweaks that won the league in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches across various tournaments post heavy investment, though he denied the notion it could be the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

The manager expressed deep feeling on the loss of Jota, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, and the effect at the club. The Portugal international died tragically in a road accident together with his sibling in July.

“How do you replace a person like him? This isn't just regarding the player himself, his personality mattered. I struggle to conceive the dressing room missing him. Putting it into words is tough on this topic. It was an incredible shock for his teammates too. Not a single person will ever use it for poor performances though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Handling this on a personal level is not easy. Unbearable.”
