The Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting With Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer contributed to the Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their initial Fall Classic since 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the ALCS.

Behind by two runs, the star outfielder hit a three-run homer in the seventh frame, propelling the Toronto squad in MLB to a four games to three victory in the series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, Toronto, Canada," commented Springer, a star of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now connected for 23 total October home runs, making him third in history behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another person in the world that I'd prefer in that moment except for Springer with his playoff prowess," noted Schneider.

The Mariners, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a championship series.

Wilson commented "there's no question that it hurts" following his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but praised their work this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we finished on the wrong side of the series," he added.

The Blue Jays secured the title on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
