Salah Offers Regret to Squad, Reveals Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has revealed that Salah apologised to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the fallout from his public comments.
The Incident
Salah was left out from a European match after voicing frustrations and claiming his connection to the head coach had soured.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I apologise.’”
The head coach has chosen not to reveal on whether he received a personal apology from the veteran striker.
Team Unity
The player stated that the squad's reaction remained positive. “Nothing about him changed, he was smiling and everybody was exactly the same with him,” the midfielder explained.
The midfielder also noted that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “It's clear there are specific approaches you can go about things,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just be on the bench, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Team Form
The team's performance have remained strong in the games following the interview fallout. He feels the forward's comments were not designed to harm the team.
“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a desire to win,” he finished. “It's behind us and we’re gelling well as a team, getting results and on a positive run.”
