Paceman Gus Atkinson Compounds England's Fitness Problems.

'Serious blow' for the touring side as Atkinson is forced off due to a hamstring issue.

The pace bowler added to England's injury problems after leaving the playing area early on day two of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.

Atkinson experienced discomfort in his hamstring post-delivery that he bowled on Saturday.

The touring camp stated the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and would spend time away from the action for further assessment "over the next few hours".

The concluding match of the tour beginning on 4 January begins this coming Sunday.

The visitors have been without strike bowlers Mark Wood with a knee problem and another paceman with an abdominal strain on this Ashes tour.

Matthew Fisher was brought into the squad as cover for Wood.

The seamer had a tough time in the opening two Tests, claiming a mere three wickets.

He was left out from the previous Test, before being recalled for the fourth Test in the playing XI.

The county bowler showed better form in Melbourne, claiming a couple of wickets during the host's first knock, before adding 28 as a batsman among just a trio of English batsmen to get into double digits.

After bowling one over at the end of day one, he resumed the next day and removed Scott Boland Scott Boland caught behind.

However, at the end of that over, he delivered a variation to the batsman and suddenly grabbed at his leg.

Atkinson returned to the side for the fourth Ashes Test after being left out of the third.
