Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the US has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
