Cowboys Defensive Lineman Kneeland Dies at Age 24
He was the 56th selection in the 2024 draft
Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland has died at the age of 24.
Kneeland was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round in 2024 and appeared in 18 games for the team, including four starts.
He scored his first touchdown in the Tuesday game to the Arizona Cardinals when he recovered a blocked punt.
"Marshawn was a beloved teammate and part of our family," the Dallas Cowboys said.
"We send our condolences regarding Marshawn are with his partner Catalina and his loved ones."
Kneeland was picked by the Cowboys with the 56th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft after playing college football for Western Michigan University.
His agent, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart breaks" for the loss of the athlete who "gave his all" into every moment.
"I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to being a esteemed pro for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley commented.
The NFL said it is "deeply saddened" by the news.
