Brian Eno Encourages Public Help to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The effort hopes to send support to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an surprise number one.

“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it fails to, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”

Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“The song holds a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Contributing Musicians

The single was laid down following a major charity concert held in September. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the piece was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.

The diverse array of artists appearing on Lullaby includes a group of acclaimed names from the scene. All took part in the benefit event, which managed to collect a considerable total for humanitarian aid.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a team of producers and composers. The song showcases a combination of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.

The group managing the initiative have stated that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These donations will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We haven't set a specific target,” a representative said. “We aim for as much as possible. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. It all goes out to Gaza.”

The reality in the territory was described as its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of buildings said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“Given that reality, a few million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is first of all making this cause better known and proving there’s another side to the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a digital service from the 19th of December.
