Beloved Actor Pat Finn, Known For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.
American entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in popular television series including Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died aged 60.
The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles, California this Monday after undergoing treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, as reported by news outlets.
"Pat never met a stranger - only friends he didn't know yet," his family said in a message.
They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".
A Prolific Career on Screen
Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a social organizer known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.
Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of hit series, such as:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- "House"
Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.
His work in movies are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
Beyond the Screen
Outside of his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.
He was part of a six-person improv troupe called "Beer Shark Mice".
"He coached, befriended and mentored many learners during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.
Offering condolences, fellow actor actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted on social media.
The actor is leaves behind his partner Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
