Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his position following another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received significant support from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over known failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a phase such as this with performances so bad.”

He finished, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And until that badge is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
